Guerrero@qmgate.arc.nasa.gov This project consists of providing labor,
equipment, materials, and services necessary for inspection and
overhaul of the induction frequency changer rotating machinery for the
40 X 80 wind tunnel aerocoustic modification project. The equipment
consists of two MG sets which provide 12 Hz. starting power and
variable frequency drive power for operation of the wind tunnel drive
motors. The work in the base bid includes: inspection, disassembly,
cleaning and refurbishment of a smaller MG set with a 5,880 KVA AC
synchronous generator and two 1350/3150 HP DC motors and a larger MG
set with a 28,000 HP AC wound rotor induction motor and two 1115/2520
KW DC generators. Rewind armature of one DC motor at the contractor's
plant with NEMA class F insulation system. Modifications to the
ventilation system of the smaller MG set including fabrication and
installation of pit pans, a new filtered supply air unit and demolition
of the existing vent fans, motors, duct, and filters. Fabrication and
installation of replacement brushholders for all four DC machines. The
work in the options include: Steam clean, bake, and spray paint DC
generator armatures at the contractor's plant; rewind fields of one DC
motor; rewedge AC machine stators; rewedge armatures of a 1350/3150 HP
DC motor and two 1115/2520 KW DC generators; fabricate and install new
bearing (9'' X 18'') pedestal for the smaller MG set. The original
bearing shall be re-used. The project is located at NASA Ames Research
Center, Moffett Field, CA. The magnitude of construction is between
$1,000,000 and $5,000,000. The period of performance is approximately
290 calendar days. THERE WILL BE A NON-REFUNDABLE CHARGE OF $35.00 FOR
EACH SET OF PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS. MAKE CHECK PAYABLE TO: DMJM. All
responsible sources may submit a bid which shall be considered by the
Agency. NASA-Ames Research Center has an active Home Page. It is
