The Carderock Division, Naval Surface Warfare Center (CDNSWC) proposes to procure the Electronics Book Technologies DynaBase, an SGML (Standard Generalized Markup Language) database, that will allow for the use, storage and maintenance of IETM (Interactive Electronic Technical Manual) SGML data. Purchase of this database is necessary in order to ensure compatibility with the publishing software, Electronic Book Technologies DynaText which is currently being used at CDNSWC. The proposed acquisition will provide for a single server license for Electronic Book Technologies DynaBase Publishing Environment on a UNIX platform. DynaBase is a native Standard Generalized Markup Language repository that supports authoring, document management and revision control of native SGML documents used in the production of DynaText electronic books. SGML is a rigid standard for text definition and document markup that is platform independent. DynaBase is required to store, manage and maintain the SGML IETMs created with DynaText. Q.E.D. Systems is the sole distributor for Electronic Book Technologies DynaBase product. Electronic Book is the sole owner of the Dynabase product. See Note 22. (0236)
