767-8068. The Air Force of Scientific Research (AFOSR) announces the
availability of a BAA for the 1996 Defense University Research
Instrumentation Program (DURIP) for DoD. DURIP is designed to improve
the capabilities of U.S. universities to conduct research and to
educate scientists and engineers in areas important to national defense
by providing funds for the acquisition of research equipment in
specific research areas. The areas of interest are (1) High Resolution
Plasma Diagnostics for High Power Microwave Studies, (2) Vacuum
Diagnostic Facility for Electric Propulsion, High Altitude Plumes and
Contamination Studies, (3) Equipment for Synthesis, Characterization,
and Processing of Nano-Size Particles, (4) Instrumentation for
Spatially and Temporally Resolved Studies of Surfaces and Thin Films,
(5) Molecular Level Characterization of Materials and Processes, (6)
Instrumentation for Structural Integrity and Reliability, (7)
Characterization of the Physical, Chemical, and Mechanical Properties
of Snow, Ice, and Frozen Ground, (8) Innovative Spatial, Temporal and
Spectral Probes, (9) Advanced Instrumentation for Materials
Characterization and Processing, (10) Environments for Modeling and
Simulation of Complex Systems, (11) High Resolution Characterization of
Proteins, Protein Complexes, and Subcellular Structures, (12) Broadband
Information Technology (BIT), (13) Ultra Silicon Infrastructure, (14)
Laser and Nonlinear Optical Materials Characterization, (15) Computers
for Advanced Device and Circuit Design and Simulations, (16)
Computational Neuroscience: Multineuron Recording for the Study of
Neural Networks, (17) Synthesis, Processing, and Characterization
Equipment for Functional Materials Development via Chemical Methods,
(18) Physical Processes and Phenomena Instrumentation, (19)
Oceanographic and Atmospheric Sensors, (20) Time of Flight
Instrumentation, (21) Instrumentation for Design, Testing, and
Application of Silicon Neural Systems, (22) Biomaterials and Processes
from Marine Organisms, (23) Instrumentation for Missile Defense
Research in Sensing, Processing, Communications, Power, and Propulsion.
Before sending a proposal, inquire if someone at the appropriate
program office is interested in your field of work. That person can
also provide guidance for preparing a proposal before you begin to
develop the proposal. Names and telephone numbers of the agencies
program managers are listed after each topic area description.
Instructions for proposal submissions, and copies of the DURIP BAA can
be obtained from AFOSR/XPT, 110 Duncan Avenue, Suite B115, Bolling AFB
DC 20332-0001, phone (202) 767-4910. This announcement and other AFOSR
publications may also be downloaded from the Federal Information
Exchange (FEDIX), an on-line information system accessible via computer
and modem 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Call the FEDIX computer at
1-800-783-3349 (eight data bits, one stop bit, no parity). Also Telnet
to: 192.111.228.33. The FEDIX HELPLINE is available at 301-975-0103
from 8:30 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. (Eastern) Monday through Friday. (0236) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0003 19950825\A-0003.SOL)
