COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF AUGUST 28,1995 PSA#1419NAVSTAR GLOBAL POSITIONING SYSTEM (GPS) JOINT PROGRAM OFFICE (JPO) USER
EQUIPMENT (UE) INDUSTRY DAYS AT INSTITUTE OF NAVIGATION (ION) 8TH
ANNUAL CONFERENCE POC Technical Contact Point: 1Lt Roger Gonzalez,
(310) 363-6389; Contracting Officer: Mr. Sid Martin (310) 363-6371.
CORRECTION: GLOBAL POSITIONING SYSTEM (GPS) USER EQUIPMENT INTEGRATED
PRODUCT TEAM (IPT) INDUSTRY DAYS. This is a clarification to CBD
Special Notice #80 published 15 Aug 95, same subject. The Air Force is
leading a triservice team for the Service Acquisition Executives to
develop an integrated Global Positioning System (GPS) User Equipment
Installation Plan. Industry involvement is essential to our success,
and we are looking for innovative solutions to the challenges listed
below to ensure all potential solutions are addressed. The government
does not intend to award a contract on the basis of information
submitted nor otherwise pay for information solicited through this
announcement. The NAVSTAR GPS Joint Program Office is representing the
triservice team by identifying interested potential sources for GPS to
participate in Industry Days to be conducted in conjunction with the
Institute of Navigation (ION) 8th Annual Conference at Palm Springs,
California during the period 12 Sep 95 through 15 Sep 95. The
triservice team is planning to provide prospective vendors an
opportunity to make technical presentations to members of the IPT team.
The intent is to identify potential commercial solutions to current and
future DoD technical challenges, as appropriate, for use applications.
Based upon current information on products presently available or
expected to be available in the near future the team will likely show
technical interest in using multiple parallel correlators and/or highly
accurate low power timing sources for direct Y-Code acquisition, Wide
Area Augmentation System (WAAS) signal processing, beam steering and
null forming antennas for use against multiple, mixed types of high and
low power jammers, coupling of GPS with Inertial Navigation System
(INS), Application Specific Integrated Circuit (ASIC) and Multi-Chip
Module (MCM) applications, methods to reduce the GPS User Range Error
(URE) contribution and more flexible and efficient acquisition
methodologies. Those vendors having applicable interest, capability,
and background are encouraged to submit documentation that demonstrates
their historical ability to design, manufacture, and test GPS user
equipment and have physical and functional integration experience in
integrating and testing sophisticated GPS avionics. Interested vendors
should restrict the size of their response to a total of approximately
ten briefing chart pages. Due to time constraints, presentations will
be limited to approximately thirty vendors. All briefings and materials
shall be unclassified. Although presentations will be limited to
approximately 30 vendors, all interested vendors are encouraged to
submit the requested information. Interested parties should submit the
requested information to 1Lt Roger Gonzalez, SMC/CZUE, 2435 Vela Way,
Suite 1613, LAAFB, CA 90245-5500 not later than 31 Aug 95. This
announcement will also be placed in the Federal Register. Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0669 19950825\SP-0001.MSC)
