COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF AUGUST 28,1995 PSA#1419ENVIRONMENTAL COST ANALYSIS: AN INFORMATION EXCHANGE Contact, Teresa
Reed Kishlock, 814/269-2800. Concurrent Technologies Corporation (CTC)
is hosting ``Environmental Cost Analysis: An Information Exchange'' at
the Environmental Technology Facility in Johnstown, PA, on September
13-14, 1995. The Information Exchange is sponsored by the National
Defense Center for Environmental Excellence (NDCEE), operated by CTC
for the Department of Defense (DOD). The NDCEE leads and supports DOD
facilities and the associated industrial base in adopting a
comprehensive approach to pollution prevention and addresses other high
priority environmental issues. The Information Exchange will address
the National Performance Review (NPR) proposed adoption of
Environmental Cost Accounting guidelines in the Federal Government. It
will provide a forum for discussions on environmental cost analysis
practices in the Federal Government. Representatives from the financial
community, industrial, military, regulatory and federal agencies will
describe their ongoing projects to adopt environmental cost analysis
practices within their programs. The problems encountered in
implementing ``green accounting'' will also be discussed. Suppliers of
life cycle assessment and information analysis systems will have an
opportunity to describe their products and present relevant
information. Through data sharing in a workshop environment, informal
discussions will help attendees learn more about the implications and
trends in environmental accounting guidelines by the Federal
Government. Participants will gain information to help them prevent
duplication of effort, ultimately saving valuable time and money.
Co-sponsoring this Information Exchange are the Environmental
Protection Agency (EPA), the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA),
and the U.S. Army Armaments Research Development & Engineering Center
(ARDEC). Abstracts summarizing activities regarding environmental cost
analysis practices are being accepted for presentations. Also, a
limited number of spaces are available for organizations wishing to
display their software, products, and services. To receive further
