COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF AUGUST 29,1995 PSA#1420Defense Nuclear Agency, 6801 Telegraph Road, Alexandria, VA 22310-
3398 A -- PARTICLE-SIMULATION OF NUCLEAR AND EXTREME NATURAL ATMOSPHERIC
EFFECTS SOL DNA001-95-R-0057 POC Jennifer Seaton, Negotiator, (703)
325-9368, Edward Archer, Contracting Officer, (703) 325-5028. This
effort focuses on specific nuclear weapon effect (NWE) simulation
techniques which are likely to produce data of higher order accuracy
for applications to new systems. The intent is to exploit the Defense
Nuclear Agency (DNA)-developed new codes, called sophisticated hybrid
particle simulation (SHYPS), vortex-in-cell, and compressible
vortex-in-cell (VIC/CVIC) codes involving vortex-particles to perform
numerical simulation of specific NWE environments with enhanced
accuracy. The simulation results are to be used for producing higher
fidelity models and data sets which are critical to the development of
new DoD systems. Specifically, the effort will address the nuclear
disturbed environments operability issues of sensors on theater
high-altitude air defense (THAAD) interceptors, other theater missile
defense (TMD) systems, and the upcoming space-based infrared satellite
(SBIRS) system, as well as their communication links. Requests for
copies of the RFP must be submitted in writing and include a point of
contact, phone number, and fax number. Telephone requests will not be
accepted. This procurement will be a small business set-aside. For
information contact Jennifer Seaton at (703) 325-9368, FAX (703)
325-9291. Information on DNA solicitations, already released, can be
obtained by calling the DNA Hotline at (703) 325-1173. Reference
