COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF AUGUST 30,1995 PSA#1421NEW ATTACK SUBMARINE (NSSN) COMMAND, CONTROL, COMMUNICATIONS AND
INTELLIGENCE (C3I) SYSTEM DEVELOPMENT POC SEA 02624, D. Weaver, (703)
602-7703. Commander, Naval Sea Systems Command, SEA 02624, 2531
Jefferson Davis Hwy, Arlington, VA 22242-5160. As part of ongoing work
under separate contracts issued under a Broad Agency Announcement, the
Navy plans to convene the Open System Critical Item Test (OSCIT) Phase
I Demonstration during September, 1995. The work performed under these
contracts is part of the New Attack Submarine (NSSN) Program Office's
continuing efforts to develop commercial off-the shelf (COTS) and open
system (OS) technologies for use in command, control, communications
and intelligence systems. This year's demonstration showcases an
Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM) based system which consists of 20
separate industry and Government developed projects conforming to
COTS/OS standards. Each demonstration day (identical sessions) will
involve a combined Navy/industry presentation and demonstrations of the
OSCIT system operating in a combat scenario. The results of previous
efforts under these contracts contributed to development of open system
architecture requirements and a performance specification for the NSSN
Command, Control, Communications and Intelligence (C3I) System
Development solicitation (N00024-95-R-6541) which was released on
August 2, 1995. A separate identical demonstration will be held on
September 19, 1995 (8:30 AM to 5:00 PM) at the Naval Undersea Warfare
Center (NUWC), Newport, Rhode Island for the benefit of potential
offerors, including potential subcontractors, responding to the NSSN
C3I System Development solicitation (N00024-95-R-6541). This
demonstration may benefit potential offerors by disseminating
additional available information on COTS/OS technologies. Nothing in
the demonstration should be construed as changing the requirements set
forth in this or any other solicitation. Attendance will be restricted
to U.S. Citizens with appropriate security clearances on file at NUWC,
Newport. Security clearance at the SECRET level is required. Firms
