Purchasing Agent, EVELYN BUTLER, 303-236-8040, X232 The Bureau of
Reclamation, Denver Technical Center has a requirement for 14 Metering
Pumps in accordance with the following specifications: Pumps shall
deliver 0.36 to 1.7 gal/hour and over the entire range operate with
0.5-percent steady state flow accuracy, 2-percent flow repeatability,
and no greater than 2-percent deviation from linearity. All wetted
parts are Hasteloy C-276 for operation in Yuma, Arizona, in a corrosive
salt water environment at temperatures of 10 to 50 degree C, and a
process stream pH range of 2 to 10. The pumps meter single-chemical
solutions of sulfuric acid (up to 93- percent concentration),
15-percent sodium hypochlorite, 20- percent ferric sulfate, and
29-percent ammonium hydroxide, and 5- percent sodium hexametaphosphate.
The pump motor shall be 1/3 HP, TENV or TEFC, with variable speed DC
drive, 4 to 20 milliAmp signal and operate on 115 VAC power. Suction
and discharge check valves shall be ball type with replaceable seats
for durability and easy replacement. Metering pumps shall be
hydraulically actuated, diaphragm type. They shall be modular
construction with drivecase, liquid end, hydraulic system and stroke
adjuster available as independent, repairable cartridges. Metering
pumps shall be Durco Evolution Series EV-1 or approved alternative.
Pump drivecase shall be cast iron construction and convertible to dual
feed configuration. Anti-friction bearings shall be used on all
rotating components, and design shall allow motor rotation in either
direction. Motors shall be NEMA C-face design to eliminate alignment
problems. Drivecase shall be symmetrical in design to allow horizontal
or vertical motor mounting and to permit multiplex operation of up to
10 feeds. Liquid end shall positively seal process liquid with fully
captured TFE gaskets. Guided, single ball check valve shall be provided
on suction and discharge ports of liquid head and shall have
replaceable seat and ball guide. Check valves shall be offset from the
main process cavity to prevent solids from settling onto the suction
check valve. No contour or diaphragm support plates, which obstruct the
liquid flow path, shall be permitted. Hydraulic system shall be fully
contained and sealed within the hydraulic cartridge. No external tubes
or by pass lines shall be permitted. Hydraulic plunger shall be
hardened for long life. Each pump head shall abe provided with both
positive air bleed valve and adjustable hydraulic relief valve at the
highest point of the hydraulic system to facilitate relief of entrained
air in the hydraulic fluid. Vacuum/pressure type hydraulic
replenishment systems shall not be permitted. All pumps shall be
provided with a manual micrometer-type stroke adjustment mechanism to
independently adjust flow rate of each pump head. Stroke adjustment
mechanism shall be fully sealed, and shall have a O percent - 100
percent scale with 1% increments. Delivery is required no later than
October 6, 1995, FOB destination Yuma Desalting Plant, 7301 Calle Agua
