50011-3020 B -- MARKET STUDY TO DETERMINE NEEDS AND PRESENT USAGE OF CHEMICAL
SENSOR SYSTEMS FOR ENVIRONMENTAL ANALYTICAL APPLICATIONS Sol Ames
SC-96-284. Contact Point, Tracy Scebold, (515) 294-1780. Ames
Laboratory, operated for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) by Iowa
State University, has available a Request for Proposal (RFP) to perform
a market survey designed to determine needs and present usage of
chemical sensor systems for environmental analytical applications. This
notice is one method being used to solicit interest in participation of
the herein described market survey. Ames Laboratory under contract with
characterization, monitoring and Sensor Technology Crosscutting Program
(CMST-CP) of the DOE, has undertaken a project task to assess and
potentially expand the capabilities of commercially available
instrumentation for field deployable environmental analysis relevant to
meeting DOE needs. As part of this project, the present and potential
market demand for commercial chemical sensor systems for environmental
analysis will be determined. Firms are sought to conduct a marketing
survey to determine what is currently being used for environmental
analysis in the field and for what applications. The survey will also
identify who the existing customers are for this type of
instrumentation, as well as how the market and customers base might
expand given both existing and developing instrumentation technologies.
Strong documented technical and economic skills will be required
related to analysis of technical needs and economic markets. It is
anticipated that a three (3) month contract will be awarded at a cost
no greater than $50,000. Brief written statements of interest and
citations of relevant related background should be received within 21
days of the date of this synopsis and should be identified with the
marking solicitation SC-96-284. Elaborate and voluminous submissions
are not appropriate. Submissions of information by telephone will not
be accepted. This is not a Request for Proposal, and no additional
information will be provided at this time. A formal RFP will be
available for mailing approximately 30 days from the date of this
synopsis. (240) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0010 19950830\B-0003.SOL)
