44135 V -- FLIGHT OF SPACE ACCELERATION MEASUREMENT SYSTEM FOR FREE FLYER
(SAMS-FF) ON THE RUSSIAN FOTON-12 MISSION -- SOURCES SOUGHT POC Julio
Acevedo, Project Manager, (216) 433-2471, MS 500-216 Thomas D.
Tokmenko, Contracting Officer, (216) 433-2725, MS 500-319. NASA LeRC is
the agent for the Microgravity Science and Applications Division (MSAD)
of NASA Headquarters and is seeking to expand the options available for
performing space experiments under microgravity conditions. The task
represents the full service spectrum of flying a payload into space and
performing the experiment in microgravity for up to 16 days. The
vehicle has to provide 10 to the minus sixth power g levels for the
full period of the mission. Such a vehicle and service exists in
Russia, the vehicle is the FOTON free flyer and it is managed by the
Central Specialized Design Bureau of Samara (CSDB) Russia. NASA LeRC
intends to negotiate with CSDB a contract to fly a space acceleration
measurement system for free flyers and characterize the microgravity
environment. (0241) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0092 19950830\V-0002.SOL)
