intends to procure Low Rate Initial Production (LRIP) of AIM/RIM-7R
retrofit kits for Sparrow Missile Guidance and Control Sections using
Industrial Base Competition between Raytheon Company, Sudbury, MA
01776, and Hughes Missile Systems Company, Tucson, AZ 85734. As the
Industrial Base Producers, Raytheon and HMSC possess the specialized
knowledge, expertise and experience to manufacture Sparrow Missile
Guidance and Control Section (GCS) retrofit kits/installation. The
proposed effort covers an LRIP procurement of up to 100 AIM/RIM-7R kits
and installation with an option for up to an additional 100 AIM/RIM-7R
kits and installation in support of USN, USAF and FMS requirements.
Additional requirements may include technical data,
administrative/financial data, quality and reliability requirements,
repair requirements, test set upgrade/support, Integrated Logistics
services, and engineering services. As the Industrial Base producers of
the AIM/RIM-7 Sparrow Missile, Raytheon and Hughes designed and
developed the AIM/RIM-7R upgrade kits joints and are the only companies
which possess the detailed technical knowledge, data and drawing
packages, and experience to manufacture and install the -7R retrofit
kits. Therefore, this procurement is restricted to the above two
industrial base producers - this announcement is for information
