Reference/s: (a) MIL-C-58104A ''Cover, Protective, for Parts and Equipment'' dtd 5/20/83 and (b) MIL-P-58102 ''Plastic Sheets and Laminates, Flexible, for Environmental Protective Storage and Shipping Covers'' dtd 5/31/78 with Amendment 1 dtd 6/1/84 and Notice 2 dtd 2/16/93. Cover shall be designed per MIL-C-58104A, Type III, with material per MIL-P-58102, Type III, Class 2, Grade A, except (1) Material shall be a scrim reinforced Thermoplastic Elastomer (TPE) supported by a minimum of 5 by 5 polyester scrim. The scrim will be totally encapsulated on both sides and the TPE material will be thermally fused through the scrim openings without the use of adhesives or bonding agents. The material will not contain PVC resin or plasticizers and shall have demonstrated long term UV resistance by having completed a minimum exposure of 2 million langleys as specified in ASTM test procedure G90, Table 2, Cycle 1, (i.e., this equates to in excess of 15 years of direct outdoor exposure). Alternative materials to TPE may be considered if they meet all of the other requirements of this package (i.e., weight/strength/fluid resistance/adhesion/weatherability/life expectancy/flame resistance, etc. (2) Material weight may be in excess of 16 oz per square yard but shall not exceed 30 oz per square yard. (3) Material shall have a minimum tear strength of 80 lbs in each direction. (4) Material shall have a minimum breaking strength of 185 lbs/in. (5) Each cover shall be made from the same batch and lot number material. (6) Material shall also be resistant to MIL-H-83282 Hydraulic Fluid, synthetic hydrocarbon base, fire resistant, MIL-H-46170 Hydraulic Fluid, synthetic hydrocarbon base, rust inhibited, MIL-C-47220, Coolant Fluid (Coolanol, Flocool), silicant ester base, and MIL-C-87252, Coolant Fluid (PAO), hydrogenated polyalphaolefin synthetic hydrocarbon fluid, when tested in accordance with Ref (a) para 4.5.1.1.10 and Ref (b) para 4.7.12. (7) Color shall approximate FED-STd 595 Color 3303 (Sand). Cover length 55 ft, wingspan 5 ft, height 16 ft. Quantity four (4) each. First Article testing may be required.
