COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF SEPTEMBER 7,1995 PSA#1426NASA, Johnson Space Center, BJ23, Houston, TX 59 -- ROBOTIC ARM DRIVE SOL 9-BJ23-02-09 DUE 090595 POC MARGARET
SIMMONS, Tel:713-483-4171 Contracting Officer:MARIE D. KLIMENT,
Tel:713-483-4168 The NASA Lyndon B. Johnson Space Center intends to
award a purchase order under the Federal Acquisition Streamlining Act
(FASA) to Astro Instrument Corporation (AIC) for the purchase of two
electric rotary drive assemblies. The Robotics Systems Evaluation
Laboratory (RSEL) will begin testing of Space Station Alpha Orbital
Replacement Unit hardware using an existing Orbital Tool Changeout
Mechanism (OTCM) Emulator (OTCME) mounted to a Shilling manipulator. A
significant number of changes have occurred in the design of the OTCM
since this OTCME was built. AIC is unique in that it has developed a
modular building-block manufacturing technique for small, lightweight
motion control assemblies which minimizes design and development time.
ACI will provide a standard electrical interface which will allow the
specific assembly to be an exact form, fit, and function replacement
for the existing hydraulic torque motor. A synopsis for this
procurement acts as a formal RFQ. A determination by the Government not
to compete this proposed procurement was based on a market survey that
found AIC the only source that met all of the specifications. Please
note Item 22. However, further interested parties may identify their
interest and capability to respond to this requirement by submitting a
written response to the Contract Specialist within 15 days of
publication of this notice. The Contract Specialist, Margaret Simmons,
can be reached at (713) 483-4171. For further technical information,
please contact JSC, Charles T. Woolley (713) 483-0539. (0248) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0225 19950906\59-0004.SOL)
