Officer, (507) 52 -4650 Addendum. Site Inspections. The action
originally publicized in the CBD dated 6/20/95, to replace two existing
steam turbines' hydraulic governors with electronic governors did not
include site inspections. The Panama Canal Commission will hold Site
Inspections from October 2 through October 13, 1995, at 9:00 a.m.
Panama time, at the Miraflores Generating Station in Miraflores,
Republic of Panama, for the purpose of taking measurements, reviewing
information available regarding the different equipment capacities and
the possible physical location; considering the cables routing;
cabinets location; and for offerors to be able to include in their
technical proposal more precise and real design parameters according to
the site findings. The existing governor units are: 1. Unit No. 3 -
Hydraulic Governor Transformer Type and governor impeller mounted on
the turbine shaft. It is made integrally with the overspeed trip and
the main oil pump also connected directly to the main turbine shaft and
mounted on a Westinghouse Steam Turbine of 22 MW. This unit will be
shut down during the above-mentioned period and available for complete
inspection. It will be placed in operation after the inspection. 2.
Unit No. 4 - Hydraulic speed governor Transam DeLaval Inc., Model
55-25, Serial 3526614 (Flyweight type), mounted on a Class XJ impulse
DeLaval Steam Turbine of 33MW. This unit will not be shut down but will
be available for limited inspection. There will be NO makeup site
inspections. Prospective offerors are urged to attend the site
inspections. Those planning to attend must provide the name, social
security number, and company position of persons who will be attending.
