Area Code (612) 370-2115 The USDA, Animal and Plant Health Inspection
Service (APHIS), International Services (IS), and Plant Protection and
Quarantine (PPQ) Divisions uses nonviable, dried Torula Yeast,
incapable of growth, at facilities that rear Mediterranean Fruit Flies
(Medfly), Coratitus Capitata and Mexican Fruit Flies (MFF), Anastrepha
Ludens, in Texas, Hawaii, Mexico, and Quatemala. Nonviable, dried
torula yeast is used in the insect diet for the mass rearing of Medfly
and MFF. Award is limited to only those companies on the Qualified
Manufacturer's List (QML). A firm, fixed price, requirements contract
will be awarded and effective from date of award through September 30,
1996. The contract will contain a renewal option to extend the
contract through September 30, 1997. The quantities estimated for each
period of the contract are as follows: 200,000 pounds - MFF
-Edinburgh, Texas; 300,000 pounds - Medfly -Tapachula, Mexico; 240,000
pounds. Medfly - Guatemala; and 160,000 pounds - Medfly - Waimanalo,
Hawaii. Texas, Mexico and Guatemala shall be shipped F.O.B..
Destination to Brownsville, Texas. Hawaii shall be shipped F.O.B.
