COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF SEPTEMBER 11,1995 PSA#1428HSC/YAK 8107 13TH STREET,BROOKS AFB,TEXAS 78235-5218 58 -- CHEMICAL MINIATURE AGENT DETECTOR POC KIM WALTON,CONTRACT
SPECIALIST,(210)536-6385; JULIE ERWIN,CONTRACTING
OFFICER,(210)536-6342. The government is hereby issuing a Request for
Information (RFI) and sources sought synopsis to investigate a mature
technology for use in detecting and identifying chemical warfare (CW)
agents with long-term/low-dose vapor hazards. The system will be used
in the interior of cargo aircraft, vehicles and naval ships identified
to operate or transit a chemical threat area. The system must be
capable of detecting and warning personnel when nerve and blister
agents are present in extremely low concentrations for missions lasting
up to 12 hours. The detectors currently in the inventory do not meet
the sensitivity requirements for identifying long-term/low dose-vapor
hazards. As a part of this investigation, the Air Force is seeking
information on developmental, near production ready CW detector/sensor
systems to develop a list of sources for a potential full scale
development and production contract. We are planning to release a
Request for Proposal (RFP) in mid fiscal year 1997 to develop and
procure a CW agent detector system for use in the interior of cargo
aircraft. All interested contractors are to respond by requesting a
questionnaire through the Contract Specialist within 15 days of this
announcement. The questionnaire requests information pertaining to the
technical and operational requirements of the desired system. This
announcement is not a solicitation. (0250) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0191 19950908\58-0009.SOL)
