COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF SEPTEMBER 11,1995 PSA#1428Federal Aviation Administration, 800 Independence Avenue, S.W.,
Washington, D.C. 20591 H -- TORQUE TESTS DUE 102095 POC Gerard Oswald, ANS-520 The Federal
Aviation Administration has a requirement to conduct torque tests on
cable lugs within ASCO transfer switches, series 302 and 940, located
in the Control Wing Basement areas at twenty two Air Route Traffic
Control Centers (ARTCCs) nationwide. This test entails loosening the
lug bolts on feeder and supply cables and retightening them to a
specified torque. On switches where binding or stripping is observed
the failed lugs will be immediately replaced with identical switch
mechanism assemblies containing the current ASCO standard FAA lug. Test
reports will be required within 2 weeks after work has been completed
at each ARTCC. In addition, a two year warranty on all material and
work will be required. The current plan is to enter into contract with
the Automatic Switch Company (ASCO) Florham Park, New Jersey 07932, to
accomplish this work, which must be completed in its entirety within a
six month period of performance. If other manufacturers contend that
they can meet these requirements, please submit corporate capabilities
in conducting torque tests on cable lugs for the ASCO transfer
switches, corporate and/or Government references on similar work
conducted within the last 3 years, and a work plan including means of
providing a warranty no later than October 20, 1995 to: Federal
