(402)221-4266. The work will including the following: (Approx.
quantities) Replace exisitng centralized Heating Plant No. 2 and
associated HTHW heating system with seven decentralized MTHW heating
plants located in Bldgs. 8024, 8034, 8110, 8114, 8116, 8122, and 8124.
Demolition of existing Heating Plant No. 2 (bldg. 8026), bldg 8027,
and the existing HTHW distribution system including filling in existing
manholes and abandoning underground HTHW piping in place. Replace
and/or reuse existing HTHW equipment and piping within each building
with natural gas-fired MTHW equipment (boilers, pumps, etc.) and
piping. New boilers within each building will be steel water tube
boilers of a bent tube design. Reuse and/or replace natural gas piping
and connections. Extend existing building fire protection and
detection systems to the new heating plants within each building.
Provide new or enlarged Mechanical Equipment Rooms (MER) to house the
new heat plants and/or revise the existing MER walls for proper fire
rating. Provide Direct Eigital Control for boilers and pumps within
each building. Other work includes: new underground electrical service
(transformers, etc.) and distribution; interior electrical
distrubition and lighting revisions; plumbing and piping; architectural
remodeling including removals of drywall, CMU, finishes, doors, etc.;
utility runs; manholes; trenching; site demolition; grading; concrete
sidewalks, curb and gutters; pavement removal and replacement; removal
of two 50,000 gallon underground fuel oil storage tanks; and asbestos
abatement. The estimated construction cost of this project is between
$2,500,000 and $500,000,000. Contractor's Quality Control will be a
requirement in this contract. The Contractor will be required to
commence work within 10 days after notice to proceed and complete the
work 670 calendar days after receipt of Notice to Proceed. Provisions
will be included for liquidated damages in case of failure to complete
the work in the time allowed. Performance and payment bonds will be
required. Bid sets will be available on/a October 2, 1995. Half-size
plans and specifications will be furnished upon request. All requsts
for solicitation packages should be made in writing no later than 14
days prior to bid opening. After such time, packages will be furnished
if supply is available. It has been determined that the number of sets
be limited to 1 (one) per firm (additional copies will be the
responsibility of the requestor). Please list street address (for
