Coulter, Purchasing Agent 301-402-3347. The National Institutes of
Health (NIH), National Institute of Child Health and Human Development
(NICHD), Laboratory of Cellular and Molecular Neurophysiology requires
a computer that is compatible and will work with an existing,
Government-owned confocal fluorescence microscopy and image processing
system manufactured by Noran Instruments, Inc. The computer system and
associated software shall allow the confocal system to: 1) obtain
images with a speed of 480 frames per second, 2) obtain line scans at
a speed of 63 us, 3) allow variable rate scanning from one (1) image
per two (2) seconds to 480 images per second, 4) shall sustain
digitization of images at a resolution of 640 X 480 pixels to memory
and/or to hard disk at a rate of 30 frames per second (all image
formats and speeds shall be digitized and stored without skipping
frames for as long as disk space lasts), 5) provide an integrated and
comprehensive software package on a single platform capable of
microscope control, image digitization, two (2) and three (3)
dimensional analysis and variable rate scanning, 6) the InterVision
software shall be available on the Indy platform, and, 7) the
InterVision software shall use a combination of two (2) video boards,
the vino and galileo, as well as the cosmo compression board (the Indy
platform shall support all three (3) boards simultaneously). The
system shall consists of the following: Item #1: qty 1, cat
#IV-WSD--XLS-1, desc.: Computer, InterVision, XL System. Shall include:
100 MHz SGI Indy R4000SC Workstation, 24-bit 19 inch (48.3cm) Color
Monitor, 1.0 Gb Hard Disk, 96 Mb Memory, Indy Video Board, Cosmo
Compression Board, 3.5 inch (8.9cm) R/W Optical Disk Drive, 5.25 inch
(13.3cm) CD-ROM Disk Drive, InterVision Software Distribution, ODYSSEY
XL Control Module, Video Acquisition Module, 2D Analysis Module,
InterVision Utilities Software, InterVision User Handbook, and, 3.5
inch (8.9 cm) 230 Mb Optical Disks (box of 5). All responses must be in
written and received within 15 calendar days from the published date of
this notice. Oral communications is not acceptable and will not be
honored. Concerns that respond to this notice will be consideed only if
furnishing clear and convincing documentation demonstrating their
ability to meet, at a minimum, all stated performance and capability
requirements. Written responses should contain sufficient technical
information and description of the proposed management plan for meeting
the performance and capability requirements in order to permit the
agency analysis to establish a bonafide capability to meet the stated
