The Contractor must have a minority opportunity program designed to recruit qualified minority students as part of a national pool of available interns. The Contractor shall provide career counseling services, continuous progress evaluation, and maintain an alumni network database. The Contractor shall provide seminars and national conferences to educate and give guidance in career opportunities for individuals pursuing careers in the environmental sciences. The Contractor must have a successful track record for placement of interns with an emphasis on women and minorities. The interns will participate in multi-level, multi-disciplinary USGS scientific projects. The interns will receive training while working on short-term research and assessment projects relating to Hazards, Mineral Resources, and Water Quality and other Water Resources programs. Offerors must have demonstrated ability and programs in place to serve the USGS as a resource to refer and manage students and recent college graduates pursuing careers in the environmental sciences and related fields.
