DMA will be implementing a replacement cartographic production capability to produce point target products and provide related production management functions using Commercial-Off-The-Shelf (COTS) software packages. This new system will provide a modern softcopy point production environment capable of producing a full suite of precise point products (including both geodetic and softcopy graphics) in an efficient and timely manner. The capability to perform softcopy production should be extended to include the following point target programs: 1)4BA National Target Base, 2)4BB Aim Point, 3)4BD Conventional Contingency Support, 4)4BF Gridded Installation Product, 5)4BG Multispectral Imagery Control, 6)4BH Scientific and Technical, and 7)1EF NASA. The point target production system will provide the capability for a wide range of operational flexibility including the ability to introduce new target products into the production process, the flexibility to accept and use a variety of alternate source types, the provision of point target management tools to allow for the management of the point target process flow without the addition of significant overhead to production timeliness, as well as the following general functions: 1) accept, store, and manipulate national digital imagery sources for mensuration, 2) mensurate geodetic point locations, 3) generate digital products to include image, graphic, and text components (currently no specs), 4) generate hardcopy products to include image, graphic, and text components (specifications available), 5) manage the production process to include scheduling and tasking, 6) archive products and metadata, and 7) convert of existing hardcopy product metadata.
