COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF SEPTEMBER 19,1995 PSA#1434United Defense LP, Armament Systems Division, 4800 E. River Rd.,
Minneapolis, MN 55421-1498 A -- POTENTIAL SOURCES SOUGHT - SUBCONTRACTING OPPORTUNITY FOR DESIGN,
INTEGRATION AND MANUFACTURING OF A LIQUID PROPELLANT (LP) FLUID
HANDLING ASSEMBLY (FHA) Contact, George Desmarais, 413/494-3881 POC
George W. Desmarias, Program Manager - CRUSADER and LP Technical
subcontracts, (413)494-3881. Lockheed Martin Defense Systems, a
subcontractor to United Defense - LP under Prime Contract
DAAE30-95-C-0009, is considering subcontracting for Design, Integration
and Manufacturing of a Fluid Handling Assembly (FHA) to be used in the
155mm Regenerative Liquid Propellant Gun (RLPG). Lockheed Martin
Defense Systems is soliciting potential qualified supliers interested
in participating in Design, Integration and Manufacturing support for
the RLPG FHA. The need exists to simplify existing design, conduct
innovative future design and integration and deliver (6) complete FHA's
for the RLPG 4 and six (6) complete FHA's for Objective/Prototype Gun
Systems. The subcontractor should (a) have expertise with high velocity
fluid storage and distribution systems, (b) have expertise to
understand unique material requirements associated with compatibility
with XM46 Liquid Propellent and (c) be capable of providing the
following support: (1) personnel and facilities capable of fabrication
and test of the FHA, (2) design expertise with similar systems (i.e.
hydraulics) and (3) demonstrated systems integration experience. The
purpose of the FHA is to supply Liquid Propellant (LP), lubricant,
damper fluid and coolant to the RPLG system. The FHA supplies LP to the
Igniter Subsystem and RLPG, and lubricant and damper fluid to the RLPG.
The FHA also provides the ability to load, download, and store fluids,
purge the system of air, and put the system in a safe condition by
removing LP from the RLPG and dousing the igniter with water. The FHA
consists of valves and sensors, a high fluid velocity metering device,
piston control, pumps, isolation valves, lubrication supply, douse and
cooling equipment. Potential qualified subcontractor/suppliers are
requested to contact George Desmarais (Room 2266) in writing or by
facsimile within fifteen (15) days of the publication of this
announcement to register for a Pre-RFQ Information Conference to be
held at Lockheed Martin Defense systems, 100 Plastics Avenue,
Pittsfield, MA 01201. If notification of attendance of this meeting is
received within seven (7) days of the publication of this
announcement, an information package will be sent. Potential qualified
subcontractors/suppliers are also requested to submit capability
statements pertaining to the above listed technical needs. These
capability statements (in subcontractor format) should address unique
technical capabilities of their organization, including background on
relevant past experience, facilities capabilities and personnel
expertise associated with design, integration, manufacture and test of
Liquid Propellant, Hydraulic or other pertinent Handling Systems. The
capability statements should be submitted no later than seven (7)
calendar days after the Pre-RFQ Information Conference and should be
submitted via US Mail (or express mail) to Lockheed Martin Defense
Systems, 100 Plastic Avenue, Pittsfield, MA 01201, Attention: G. W.
Desmarais, Room 2266. Information may not be submitted via facsimile.
Neither the cost of preparing capability statements nor the cost of
preparing proposals will be entertained as allowable direct changes to
any resultant subcontract. See Note 25 (257) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0009 19950918\A-0009.SOL)
