301,Contract Specialist,Barbara Steinmann,Contracting Officer,
618-256-1900 ext 261,Collect calls will not be accepted. The Air Force
Command, Control, Communications, and Computer Agency (AFC4A/TNAB) is
seeking sources of information on: 1) structured modeling
methodologies and 2) integrated diagramming and database software tools
for building physical models. A physical model is a structured
representation of tangible resources and their connectivity employed to
carry out business operations. For AFC4A/TNAB purposes resources of
interest include actual and abstract depiction's of communications and
computer equipment, systems, networks, facilities, buildings,
aircraft, vehicles, people, and their physical (actual) and generalized
(abstract) connectivity/business relationships from a global level to
an component level. Physical models provide a computer-based graphical
and textual information source to support management, understanding,
and analysis of physical resources. Information sought on: 1)
structured methodologies useful for modeling tangible physical
resources and their connectivity. Modeling methodologies in the
Integration DEFinition (IDEF) family are widely used in the DoD, i.e.
IDEF0 for modeling business activities and IDEFIA for modeling data
entities, attributes, and their relationships. A physical modeling
methodology could be considered a counter part to the IDEF0 and IDEFIX
methods for modeling a businesses' physical resources and their
connectivity that the IDEF methods do not provide. 2) Associating
information about physical resources to information found in other
models including the functions they support and the data they store,
process, and transmit in order to build a more complete, correlated
description of business operations that no individual business
methodology currently offers. A standard physical modeling methodology
is required to bring structure to the current Air Force and DoD
physical modeling efforts to enable broad area characterization of C4
resources, information sharing, and modeling aggregation into a
consolidated model for wide area analysis. Replies concerning
accommodating methods should indicate methodologyconventions, syntax,
and semantics, for building physical models. SOFTWARE TOOLS: Information
sought in PC or Unix-based software tools that facilitate physical
modeling efforts. Information sought on integrated diagramming and
database software packages that exhibit robust modeling and analysis
capabilities. Replies should include software capabilities, cost,
required hardware and software support, and other pertinent
documentation. Desired capabilities include user customizable data
structures and graphics, user friendly graphics-based data input,
textual and graphical queries, graphical highlighting and filtering,
visual and textual reporting, and data/object import, export, and merge
capabilities. No contract will result from this request for information
(RFI), nor will the government compensate any contractor for expenses
incurred in preparing a response to this RFI. Replies to this notice
for potential sources must be submitted no later than 30 days after
publication in the CBD. Limit responses to no more than 20 pages in
length. Demonstration software is also acceptable. SUBMIT REPLIES TO HQ
