Phillips Laboratory (Kirtland AFB NM) anticipates awarding a contract to acquire high power illuminators for military applications. The goal is to develop a high power air-cooled illuminator that is vehicle/aircraft worthy. The illuminator system needs an average output power of 20 to 25 Watts. Adjustable pulse width from 0.25 to 1.0 usec. with a pulse frequency of 13.125KHz. Wavelength specification on the laser output is 860 nm +/- 10nm. Beam divergency of the optical system needs to be 2.0 degrees +/- 0.5 degrees by 2.0 degrees +/- 0.5 degrees. Beam uniformity over the 2.0 degrees by 2.0 degrees solid angle needs to be +/- 15%. The overall system including power conditioning/controls should minimize size and weight. Input power to the system is 28.0 volts with a maximum of 10 amperes.
