WATSON, (360)476-7265 Sources are sought for a future requirement at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard (PSNS) for welder's air-fed hoods with a 4 1/2 inch X 5 1/4 inch lens plate. The hoods are required to be approved by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), and shall meet the requirements of PSNS Specification No. 2310.2-S-0002 dated 1 July 1994 for the following classifications: Type 2--Welding Hood Class C--PVC laminated cloth, with blue headpiece and yellow bib Style 2--Optional lens plate, 4 1/2 inch X 5 1/4 inch. And Type 2--Welding Hood, Class D--Leather construction, Style 2--Optional lens plate, 4 1/2 inch X 5 1/4 inch. A copy of the PSNS Specification may be obtained by contacting the Government's point of contact listed herein. Interested firms are requested to provide information regarding availability of the two classifications of air-fed hoods specified, the lead time for development and/or manufacturing, the lead time for the NIOSH approval process, any applicable minimum production quantities, and your business size based on a size standard of 500 employees (SIC 3842). The above submission should be limited to 10 pages and should reference this synopsis. All responses are to be received within 30 days following publication of this notice.
