665-2536. The University of California, which operates the Los Alamos
National Laboratory (LANL) under contract to the U.S. Department of
Energy (DOE), is seeking sources with an interest in the design and
fabrication of two (2) beam steering assemblies (BSA's) for use in a
helicopter-mounted LIDAR system. This procurement will include one
option to procure a third unit and/or parts for use as critical spares
and a second option to procure seven to nine complete units for a
follow-on project. These LIDAR systems are being build as
fully-qualified technology demonstrator units and the BSA's must be
designed and fabricated in accordance with designated military
specifications. The BSA's will be used to direct and control the output
laser beam of the LIDAR. The nominal laser beam parameters are 10 cm
aperture and 1.5 microns wavelength. The BSA will direct the laser beam
in elevation and azimuthal scan patterns and will control the angular
position of the laser beam to approximately 20 microradians accuracy.
The procurement of the BSA's will include the beam assembly housing,
turning mirror(s), position sensors, motion control devices, and
associated electronics and software. To qualify for receiving a Request
for Proposal, the qualified organizations must have demonstrated
experience in precision military pointing and control systems in an
airborne environment. A statement of your area of interest,
capabilities, experience and/or expertise is requested to be sent to
the above address within 14 days after the date of this publication.
Your statement(s) of interest should not exceed ten (10) pages,
exclusive of resumes and brochures. No letters, postcards, or telephone
requests for the solicitation package will be accepted. (261) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0015 19950922\A-0015.SOL)
