NREL anticipates issuing Request for Bids (RFB) No. RAB-5-15681 on or about September 18, 1995, for bids from firms who have interest and experience in construction of Shipping and Receiving (Warehouse) and general Commercial Structures. Project location is within the NREL South Table Mountain permanent site in Golden, Colorado. The project consists of the construction of a new shipping and receiving facility of approximately 16,000 square feet, and a new utility support structure of approximately 9,000 square feet. The work includes, but is not limited to: 1) Site excavation and grading; 2) Foundation systems; 3) Structural systems; 4) Exterior finishes; 5) Interiors and architectural finishes; 6) Fire Protection; 7) Mechanical and HVAC; and 8) Electrical and all other work required for complete and operable facilities. Proposals will be accepted on an unrestricted basis (full and open competition) from all responsible and responsive offerors. Offerors responding to the solicitation will be evaluated for responsibility, as a minimum, based on the following minimum qualifications. 1) Must have a current insurance EMR rating of 1.0 or less at the time of bidding; 2) Must have a minimum of ten (10) years experience in the construction of related commercial facilities; 3) Proposed project manager and Superintendent must each have a minimum of five (5) years management experience in the construction of related commercial facilities; 4) Must perform at least twenty percent (20%) of the work with its own organization; and 5) Must provide a minimum of five (5) references from previous clients for related commercial facilities. The estimated magnitude of this project is between $1,500,000 and $2,000,000. Tentative date set for award is on or about November 3, 1995, with a tentative date for receipt of bids on or about October 13, 1995.
