The Pine Bluff Arsenal is currently looking at the feasibility of replacing the heavy metals (i.e. lead, chromium, and barium) currently used in the delay composition of the M201A1 fuze with environmentally benign materials. The primary focus of this stufy is to identify potential candiate pyrotechnic delay compositions iwth which to replace the two delay compositions currently used, namely the maganese delay composition and the Type II delay composition. The candidate delay compositions must meet the performance requirements of MIL-F-51353A(EA) and pose no environemntal and health hazards to the environement.
