(516)282-3199 Brookhaven National Laboratory intends to solicit bids
for one (1) Leaded Glass Shield Window. The leaded glass oil-filled
radiation shield window assemblies are for use in a Hot Cell. The
Seller shall provide all labor, materials, services, and equipment
necessary to design, faricate, test and deliver the complete
assemblies. Window glass may be new or refurbished used windows. Only
window glass may be reclaimed material. Refurbished windows must meet
all specification criteria. Embedment steel liners are required and
shall be matched for each window. All materials mused ont he hot side
of the unit shall be suitable for a radiation environment. The hot side
design dosage shall be 1000 R/hr. Maximum cold side dosage shall be 50
mR/hr. Window assemblies shall be installed in a 24 inch thick
concrete wall. The wall will have one (1) inch thick steel plates on
both surfaces to produce a total wall thickness of 26 iches. Window
locations are shown on the Hot Cell Main Assembly drawing. The window
assemblies and liners shall be constructed such that the windows can be
installed/removed from the wall embedment liners from the cold/operator
side. The embedment liners and mating windows shall be of stepped
construction. Minimum step overlaps shall be 0.5 inch. The window shall
operate in an environment such as that found in an enclosed, heated bay
area. Temperature extremes shall be 68 degrees F mininum and 100
degrees F maximum. There will be a slight differential pressure across
the window due to the HVAC for the Hot Cell. The design valaue shall
be one (1) inch water column. The window design requires the following
considerations: Seismic restraiant mechanisms. The seismic design
shall be per UCRL-15910. The seismic zone shall be considered as Zone
2A. For static calculationss, an importance factor of 1.25 shall be
used. Hazard classification shall be ''low''. Oil drain and vent
grooves, passages for oil/gas transfer. Glass slab separator mechanisms
to prevent glass/glass interfacing. Brokers are not permitted to
participate on this procurement. Interested contractors shall submit
their request within ten (10) days of this publication to Mr. David
