SIC code 1541 applies. Work consists of the construction of a 12,000 SF, two story addition to Building 815. The new addition will contain offices, laboratories, toilet facilities including support space. The contract also includes some modifications to the existing building. New construction entails the erection of a steel framed building on concrete piers, footings and walls. First floor will be slab-on-grade. The second floor will be a poured concrete deck in a metal pan. Exterior walls are composite insulated brick veneer system including an aluminum curtain wall and insulated window wall. Roofing will be a built-up system with rigid insulation. Interior partitions will be gypsum wall board on metal studs. Laboratory casework is metal and includes base and wall cabinets and fume hoods. Interior finishes include wood doors, acoustic tile ceilings and resilient floor tiles. HVAC, mechanical equipment and site utility extensions are included as well as lighting and power. Estimated construction cost is $1,000,000 to $5,000,000. Estimated construction time is 52 weeks. Bid documents will be availabe on or about November 8, 1995. A 20% bid bond is required. Payment and performance bonds are required after contract award. Brookhaven is charging a non-refundable fee of $125 for bid documents. Personal checks made out to ''Brookhaven National Laboratory'' are acceptable. Checks may be sent immediately and bid packages will be mailed upon availability.
