703-784-5822 EXT. 255. The Marine Corps Systems Command (MARCORSYSCOM)
intends to excercise various options for Indoor Simulated Marksmanship
Trainers (ISMT) and Individual Squad Trainers (IST) under contract
M67854-94-C-2014 with Firearms Training Systems of Suwanee, GA. within
six (6) months. The ISMT/IST shall be a Commercial-Off-The-Shelf
(COTS)/Non- Developmental Item (NDI) interactive video system trainer.
The ISMT shall have four firing positions for combat marksmanship
training with positions that shall be capable of working together or
independent of each other and shall have an instructor station. The
video trainer shall have a large screen display with a maximum width of
12 feet. Each firing position shall be able to fire the same or
different weapons simultaneously while being monitored by a single
instructor/operation and replicate actual characteristics of weapon and
ammunition simulated. The trainer shall be easily transportable to
facilitate deployment aboard ship and shall be capable of inducing a
level of recoil sufficient to create anticipation and to cause
sufficient shock to significantly effect the trainee's sight picture.
The trainer shall be capable of simulating the actual sounds heard from
all weapons, in all situations, when not wearing hearing protection.
Volume of sound shall be adjustable from zero to the same audio
signature of the actual weapon. The trainer shall be capable of fully
integrating with additional trainers in order to provide a 12 lane
(position) infantry squad trainer. Any laser system associated with the
trainer shall be eye safe and comply with the requirements of CFR Title
21 Part 1040.10 and SPAWAR Instruction 5100.12A. With the exception of
live fire, the training weapon shall function, look and feel like the
actual weapon to include weight and semi-automatic and automatic
capabilities. The video trainer shall have the following minimum
weapons capabilities: M- 16A2 rifle, Beretta 9mm pistol, Squad
Automatic Weapon (SAW), M- 203 Grenade Launcher, MK-19 Machine Gun, M2
Machine Gun, 240G Machine Gun, AT-4 Anti-tank weapon, and Shotgun. The
trainer shall provide for additional weapons to be aded at a later
date. The trainer shall have Forward Observer capability for adjusting
mortar fire and shall have night vision capability. The system shall
provide effective training during low light and darkness to include the
use of standard Marine Corps tactical night vision equipment. The
interactive video shall simulate marksmanship, combat, and shoot/no
shoot scenarios using video disc and/or digitized video. Offerors that
can comply with the requirements set forth above shall submit a
Capability Statement by 17 November 1995 to: COMMANDER ATTN CTQ3TM
MARCORSYSCOM 2033 BARNETT AVE SUITE 315 QUANTICO VA 22134-5010. The
interested offerors may be required to submit a bid sample for
evaluation prior to MARCORSYSCOM determining whether the offeror has
the capability to comply with the above requirements. See Numbered Note
