Work consists of the conversion of an existing 9,000 SF theater and a addition of approximately 3,000 SF into a museum. The new addition will contain offices, toilet facilities and support space. Construction work will include the erection of a steel frame on concrete piers, footing and walls. First floor will be slab-on-grade. Second floor will be poured concrete in a metal pan. An exterior insulated finish system will be applied to the walls of the existing building. Exterior walls on the new addition will be a brick veneer system. Roofing will be a modified bitumen, built-up system on rigit insulation. Interior partitions will be gypsum wall board on metal studs. Interior finishes include wood doors, acousting tile ceiling and carpeted floors. Entrance will be an aluminum curtain system. HVAC, electric power and lighting and the extension of site utilities are also included. Estimated construction cost is $1,000,000 to $5,000,000. Estimated construction time is 52 weeks. Bid documents will be available on or about October 16, 1995. A 20% bid bond is required. Payment and performance bonds are required after contract award. Brookhaven is charging a non-refundable fee of $85 for bid documents. Personal checks made out to ''Brookhaven National Laboratory'' are acceptable.
