This type of procurement is authorized under the Federal Acquisition Regulation 6.302-1. This requirement is unique, in the sense that this hospital owns heart-lung machines that have the Bio-Medicus drive module to operate and accommodate only the BP-80 Blood Pump. The Bio-Medicus blood pump is owned by Medtronic and meets our specifications. Medtronic will assemble and sterilize the tubing and blood pump, the end product will be a sterilized package.
