Park, NC 27709-2211 D -- ACQUISITION OF TECHNICAL NEEDED IN THE DEVELOPING, INSTALLING,
IMPLEMENTING AND OPERATING OF A MULTIPURPOSE CORPORATE INFORMATION
SYSTEM (CIS) AT THE AROSOL DAAH04-96-R-0003 DUE 101695. Contact Points:

Hodges T. Throckmorton, 919-549-4264. The US Army Research Office (ARO)
intends to contract for technical assistance in developing, installing,
implementing and operating a multipurpose Corporate Information System
(CIS) which will (i) offer shared files and specialized peripheral
devices, (ii) develop the SYBASE Relational Database Management System,
and (iii) develop a NOVELL LAN supporting various operating systems on
a variety of servers for unique and varying purposes. Prototyped
applications must be expanded to meet the needs of the ARO mission
while migrating to the Client Server environment and eliminating the
continued operation of the VAX. Individual phases of this project that
the contractor will develop/accomplish are: (a) electronic commerce
for the Army Research Office (purchasing, grant and contract awards;
(b) world-wide-web home page announcements to the academic society; (c)
online research through internet and CD ROM; (d) desktop publishing
capabilities on the LAN to support development of promotional
materials; (e) full conversion of the existing applications which are
in the prototype stage on the LAN from the VAX environment; (f)
relational databases to facilitate data retrieval and eliminate
duplication of data entry; (g) reduction of paper use through the use
of document imaging and CD ROM mastering; (h) sharing of high quality
scanners, printers and other peripheral devices; (i) sharing of files
and software via the LAN; (j) networked facsimile services; (k)
barcoding of identifying information for accuracy; and (1) ARO
application enhancement. The contractor shall be required to provide
verbal progress reports weekly to the Government's designated project
manager and monthly written reports. At the conclusion of the contract,
the contractor will be required to provide a final report to the
Government's designated project manager. Anyone interested in proposing
