herein is a 100% small business set-aside. The SIC code is 7375. The
DHHS/DAM/ADP Acquisitions Branch, Rockville, MD intends to issue a
Request for Proposal (RFP) for an organization with offices in the
Washington, DC metropolitan area that will provide all necessary labor,
materials, supplies and facilities for the continued operation of the
Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion's National Health
Information Clearinghouse (NHIC). The Contractor shall collect,
analyze, process, prepare, promote, and disseminate information on
disease prevention and health promotion and on related consumer health
information issues. It shall also promote collaborative information
development and dissemination efforts, particulary electronic, with
other HHS clearinghouses and information activities, and with other
public and private information efforts. NHIC shall promote the use of
advanced communications technology to support the health information
and education requirements of ''Healthy People 2000''. It shall provide
referral to and promote collaboration among other health information
and education activities in both the public and private sectors.
Additionally, the Contractor shall: (1) acquire and organize
information on Federal and nonfederal health promotion and disease
prevention information resources, on the information and educational
activities needed to support ''Healthy People 2000'', on the
communcations technology appropriate for fulfilling those needs; (2)
develop publications (print and electronic) and exhibit materials on
these issues and disseminate these materials and related items to
relevant audiences; (3) answer public inquiries and direct requestors
to appropriate resources; and (4) promote the appropriate use of
interactive multimedia for disease prevention and other health
information needs. The anticipated period of performance is one (1)
year with four (4) one-year option periods. The RFP will be available
approximately 15 days after issuance. The closing date wll be
approximately thirty (30) days after issuance. Requests for RFP
