11 -- IMMOBILIZED CELL BIOREACTOR SOL 9BE3331551P DUE 090595 POC STEPHANIE HUNTER, Tel:713-483-8523 Contracting Officer:LISA REA, Tel:713-483-8395 Modeling of the Immobilized Cell Bioreactor for Regenerative Water Recovery System --The main objective of this effort is to complete a detailed computer mode l of the nitrification process that can be used to increase understanding of the complex physical, chemical, and biological processes and optimize the design of hybrid regenerative water recovery system bioreactors. Emp hasis shall be on the modeling of nitrification with the Immobolized Cell Bioreactor (ICB) which is part of the Hybrid Regenerative Water RECOVERY System (HRWRS) being developed at the NASA Johnson Space Center (JSC). A lso, work shall be done to obtain metabolic kinetic data that can be used to optimize the effectiveness of the gray water bioreactor design and sup port the development of the mathematical bioreactor model. --NASA Lyndon B.
