The National Institutes of Health (NIH), National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) intends to purchase The GATAN CRYOTRANSFER SYSTEM or Equivalent. The GATAN CRYOTRANSFER SYSTEM or Equivalent should contain the following specifications for a Single Tilt, Liquid Nitrogen Cyrotransfer Holder. It allows frozen-hydrated specimens to be prepared in biologically relevant buffers. The GATAN CRYOTRANSFER SYSTEM or Equivalent is necessary to examine frozen-hydrated samples on the Philips 400 Electron Microscope. While resolution in negative stain is limited to 20, resolution of frozen-hydrated specimens can extend to atomic details. This increased resolution is essential and can mean the difference between visualizing globular domains and visualizing individual -helices, or even tracing the protein chain. All responsible sources may submit a quotation, which if timely received, shall be considered by the agency. (See Note 22).
