The Bureau of Census (BoC) extends an invitation to the vendor community to attend its second vendor conference. This conference, scheduled for November 20, 1995, is for information dissemination purposes in preparation for a future acquisition of a large scale, image based, data capture system to support the Year 2000 Decennial Census. The RFP is currently targeted for July 1996. The BoC's current plans include the data capture of 1-1.5 billion pages from paper questionnaires during a 100-day period using digital imaging technology. The BoC wishes to inform and solicit input from the vendor community regarding our current planning activities. The BoC will also present technical results and requirements-to-date based on its ongoing research into large scale, image based, data capture systems. Attendance at the conference is to be by reservation only. Reservations must be requested in writing to the attention of Ms. Frances Toole at the above address.
