(202)287-3238. The Smithsonian is seeking proposals to furnish all
supervision, labor, materials, furnishing, and equipment required for
construction of the NMAI Cultural Resources Center (approximately
13,500 gross square meters) as set forth on Drawings sheets 1 through
420 and Specifications pages 1 through 2278, both dated March 31, 1995
(approved August 8, 1995), for ODC Project No. 912205B. The Scope of
Work (for the Base Bid and all alternates) includes, at a minimum:
sitework, including earthwork, utilities, paving, and landscaping;
precast and poured-in-place concrete; concrete waffle slab
construction; structural steel and framing; liquid, membrane and metal
roofing, insulation and vapor barrier systems, structural sealant
glazing systems; interior and exterior finishes; HVAC, electrical,
plumbing, fireprotection; elevators; security system; furniture,
equipment, and signage; high density collections storage equipment.
This project was designed in metric. Inspection will take place in
metric. Submittals must be provided in metric units. A copy of the GSA
Region 3 Metric Design Guide will be provided with the RFP. Copies of

request from the Smithsonian Institution, Office of Contracting and

specifications can be purchased from Leet Melbrook, Inc. for
approximately: full-size prints (3 volumes per set) at $420.00 per set;
half-size prints (3 volumes per set) at $126.00 per set; specifications
(2 volumes per set) at $257 per set; mailing and shipping costs are

submitting a proposal for this solicitation need copies of the Request
for Proposal (RFP) as well as copies of the drawings and
specifications. Firms responding to this announcement will be required
to subit Cost and Technical Proposals which will be evaluated using
the following weighted factors, as described in the RFP: 1. Detailed
Plan of Accomplishment (15 pts.); 2. Similar Experience and Past
Performance (10 pts.); 3. Quality Assurance Plan (10 pts.); 4. Key
Personnel and Subcontractors (15 pts.); and 5. Cost Proposal and
Schedule of Values (50 pts.) A Pre-Proposal On-Site Conference and
walk-thru will be scheduled at a later date. The date and time for the
conference will appear in the RFP. The Estimated Price Range for this
project is between $25,000,000 and $35,000,000. Award of both the Base
Bid and Alternates is contingent upon availability of appropriated
