70 -- PORTABLE BARCODE SYSTEM SOL RFI-PBS.AMS POC Contact Point, Steve Rigden, 202/720-0566 The USDA, Agricultural Marketing Service, IRM Division is seeking sources that provide hardware and software for portable barcode systems. The system would be used to automate the collection of inspection information. The system must be able to accept input from both scanner and keypad. The system must be able to verify the operator's authorization (i.e. password or PIN). It must also be programmable so as to validate the information collected, and it must be able to print on-demand bar code labels. The system must have a communications capability to download validation information and to upload information collected. It must also be able to operate in a hands-free, industrial warehouse environment. This synopsis is for information purposes only; no soliciation document exists.
