Officer (301)227-2334 The Defense Mapping Agency (DMA) requires
contractor support for the priority production demonstration for the
production of six 1:100,000 scale topographic line maps (TLM) in three
geographically separated areas (three 1ots). The geographic locations
will be Bolivia, Eastern Russia, and Kenya. Each lot will be awarded
to separate contractors, (no contractor may receive more than one lot).
This contract solicitation will encompass the TOTAL map production from
source collection, geodetic control generation, compilation and color
separation. The contractor shall provide all services, materials,
supplies, facilities, labor, and supervision necessary to complete and
deliver to DMA, the required final reproduction negatives, engravings,
and intermediate sources, project history. Since this is a production
demonstration, all contractors will be required to complete all source
collection, compilation, and color separation within 90 days after
contract award. The contractor shall be responsible for obtaining all
sources necessary for the preparation of the compilation and color
separation of a 1:100,000 scale TLM. DMA will only provide map
specifications and associated technical manuals, master margin (if
available), smaller scale DMA map products covering the area, existing
maps which adjoin the project area (if available), and individual
sheet instructions. For terms of reference, the following is provided:
a. SOURCES: Sources generally consist of, but not limited to, a
control base (map sources and/or imagery), grid and projection on World
Geodetic System 1984 (WGS 84), current geodetic data, and approved
Board of Geographic Names (BGN). Sources obtained shall be adequate to
satisfy DMA Product Specifications for 1:100,000 scale TLMs
(PS/3AG/201). b. COMPILATION: Compilation is the process of extracting
and transforming map detail from selected source materials, utilizing
a variety of techniques to achieve an accurate cartographic
representation of a specific area at a specific scale. The compilation
manuscript shall be suitable for color separation. c. COLOR SEARATION:
Color separation is the transformation of compilation data to final
reproduction film negatives. In all cases, final products shall be
photographic film reproduction quality negatives defined as negatives
that will produce a press plate of high quality using ordinary
photolithographic reproduction methods. Interested parties should
submit written requests for a copy of the solicitation. Due to MC&G
restrictions, no Foreign Nationals are allowed to participate in the
