a potential sources sought notification published in Jan 95 in the
Commerce Business Daily (CBD). The Defense Logistics Agency, hereafter
known as DLA is looking for firms which manufacture or distribute
Sorbent materials that have the capability to absorb and Treat multiple
hazardous waste streams for participation in a study being conducted by
the national defense Center for environmental excellence hereafter
known as ndcee. The ndcee was created by Congress to serve as national
leadership organization to address environmental problems for the
Department of Defense (DOD), other Government organizations and the
industrialcommunity. The ndcee is operated by an independent
non-profitorganization whose mission during this study will be to
identify, demonstrate and validate a simple, efficient and COST
effective technology based on usage of Sorbent materials for treating
hazardous waste streams and contaminated media. The Sorbent materials
must be nonbiodegradable in accordance with the final EPA rules set
Forth at 57 FR 54452, 18 Nov 92 and 60 FR 35703, 11 Jul 95. They will
be used to Treat several waste streams, including spent solvents and
heavy metals wastes. This supplement is to open the study up to
sorbents that were not eligible at the time of the previous CBD
notification, but are now eligible under the new test procedure for
establishing nonbiodegradability (Organization for Economic Cooperation
and Development 301B, the modified sturmtest). Only sorbents that would
not have qualified previously, but are now considered eligible under
new test procedures will be considered at this time. Firms interested
in having their Sorbent material included in this study must submit
detailed information about the material to ndcee within thirty days
after this notice ispublished. The information must be in sufficient
detail to enable ndcee to evaluate the product for its applicability to
the objective of the study. If after the evaluation of the
informatiuon, asorbent material is selected for further study, firms
will be requested to provide a sufficient quantity to ndcee to be used
