This Program Research and Development Announcement (PRDA) supports the mission of the Office of Technology Development which is within DOE's Office of Environmental Management. The major objective of the procurement is to expedite development and demonstration of innovative technologies that address the high-priority needs of the Decontamination and Decommissioning Focus Area. Eight research areas are anticipated in the PRDA. The research areas are (1) Deactivation and Decommissioning of Plutonium Gloveboxes, (2) Deactivation of Radioactive Liquid Processing Systems, (3) Deactivation of Reactor Fuel Storage Pools, (4) Decontamination of Interior and Exterior Metal Surfaces Using Liquid Processes, (5) Decontamination of Exterior Metal Surfaces Using Abrasive Blasting Technologies, (6) Decontamination of Interior and Exterior of Metal Surfaces Using Gas Processes, (7) Decontamination of Metal Contaminated with Mercury, and (8) Personnel Protective Equipment.
