COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF OCTOBER 18,1995 PSA#1454Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America, 1125 15th Street, NW, Suite
502, Washington, DC 20005 A -- CELL ADHESION MOLECULES RESEARCH OPPORTUNITIES Due 112295. POC
Grant Administrator, Wilma Fields, (202) 466-7643. The Asthma and
Allergy Foundation of America is initiating a short-term research
program on cell adhesion molecules in order to better understand the
role of these molecules in inflammatory reactions such as allergic
rhinitis and atopic allergic conditions. This research must be
performed by an integrated team of scientists affiliated with a
non-profit institute in the northeast (north of Virginia, west to Ohio)
with extensive experience in the molecular analysis of the immune
system. In particular, the scientific team should have extensive
experience in the identification and analysis of cell adhesion factors,
signal transduction pathways, cytokine production and/or gene
regulation. It is not the intent of this program to establish new
facilities: rather, investigators in the appropriate geographic area
having demonstrated research capability and appropriate facilities are
invited to submit a proposal that describes: a) the research
objective; b) the proposed research approach; c) related work by the
proposer; d) the anticipated contribution to the asthma and allergy
patient population; e) an estimate of overall costs (including
indirect) for a one to three year effort. Direct costs may include
capital equipment. The format instructions for the proposal may be
obtained from the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America (address
below). Proposal submissions will be evaluated on the basis of
relevancy of subject matter, innovativeness, focus, and integrated team
strength. Technical questions and proposals should be sent to: Mary E.
