COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF OCTOBER 18,1995 PSA#1454

12TH NATIONAL LOGISTIC SYMPOSIUM AND EXHIBITION The 1995 National Logistic Symposium recognizes the actions that the Deputy Under Secretary of Defense for Logistics, DUSD(L), has initiated in response to the tumultuous change that continues throughout the world in geopolitics, economics, technology, and the cumulative effect that those actions have imposed on logistics, ILS, DoD, the commercial market place and the defense industry. With the theme ``Logistics: The Roadmap and the Journey'', this symposium will provide a forum for the DUSD(L) to provide insight into his roadmap for the future of DoD Logistics, and to relate that vision to on-going and future programs that directly affect government and industry leaders alike. The agenda will answer questions that relate to the DoD Bottoms-up-Review, the Commission on Rules and Missions, the Base Realignment and Closure actions and ``sightseeing'' of organizations and budgets. The symposium provides special attention to the breadth of programs and funding comprising the offices of DUSD(L) and the elements of ILS. Eight separate panels will present DoD program initiatives and opportunities for interchange between panel members and symposium participants hands include: Reengineering the Defense Transportation System; Defense Total Asset Visibility Program; Systems Specifications and Standards; Hazardous Materials Management; Privatization/Commercialization. CALS/CIM/EDI/IT; Corporate Contracting/Flexible Manufacturing; and Logistics Systems. Both government and industry exhibits displaying systems and equipment related to the panels will be open to all attendees.
