Z -- NATIONAL GALLERY OF ART WEST BUILDING SKYLIGHT PROJECT SOL 96-RFP-001 DUE 120195 POC Mary Taneyhill, (202)842-6909. This project is located in the fifty-five year old West Building of the National Gallery of Art and involves replacement of the original skylights, an area in excess of 100,000 SF, reroofing the building, and reparing marble and brick masonry at the roof level. Work within the building that is part of the project includes asbestos and lead paint abatement in the attic area below the skylights. The project will be constructed in five phases over a period of approximately four years and will be incrementally funded through annual appropriations in phases. Performance beyond the first phase will be contingent upon the availability of funding. This will be a firm fixed-price contract utilizing options. The magnitude of the total project is over $10,000,000. The contractor will be required to maintain watertight enclosure of the building roof level throughout the progress of the work. Although portions of the gallery under an active work phase will be closed to the public, the remainder of the building will remain open and fully occupied. The contractor will be required to coordinate and schedule activities with the gallery so as not to interfere with the use and occupancy of the building and to conform with gallery security and access requirements.
