Officer, 955-1187. The U.S. Army Space and Strategic Defense Command
(USASSDC) intends to solicit this effort as an 8(a) competitive set
aside for the continuance of the operation and maintenance of the
Simulation Center (SC). The principal objectives of this acquisition
are technical services, operation, maintenance, and management
requirements for the Simulation Center (SC). The SC is a self contained
fully operational computer center. The SC provides hundreds of USASSDC,
BMDO, authorized contractors and other government agencies (OGAs) a
centralized resource for classified and unclassified supercomputer
processing, parallel processing, data, visualization, modeling and
simulation, Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), networked
communications, software development, testbed, technical and
administrative support services. The SC is located at the USASSDC
building in Huntsville, Alabama's Cummings Research Park East and is
connected to the USASSDC Advanced Research Center (ARC) via a T-3
communications link. The SC, as a networked tail of the ARC
participates as a node to the National Test Bed (NTB). The SC is a
computational service provided to meet users requirements, and will
require a high degree of cooperation with personnel of government
agencies and other USASSDC/PEO-MD support contractors. To meet these
computational requirements, availability and reliability of the
computer system(s) must be maximized through efficient operations and
maintenance procedures. The overall planned period of performance is
sixty months (consisting of a 3-year basic with two-one year options).
The government contemplates award of a Cost-Plus-Fixed-Fee, Level of
Effort contract. Firms responding to this notice are requested to
indicate their size status (small, small disadvantaged, or large) and
CAGE codes. The government plans to issue this effort as an 8(a)
competitive set aside. The SIC code for this effort is 8731 with a size
standard of 1,000 employees for small businesses. A Secret facility
clearance will be required. It is anticipated that this acquisition
will not be open to foreign contractor participation.The planned
solicitation issue date is 30 December 1995 with a forty-five (45) day
