sole source contract with South Dakota Research Co., for a study
entitled ''Computer Aided Technique For Optimizing Symbol Signs''. The
objectives of this study are to: 1) Develop a software application
that enables users to employ the recursive-blur technique to
refine/optimize the recognition distance of symbol highway signs; 2)
Provide documentation that easily enables users to apply the
recursive-blur application in order to optimize symbol signs; and 3)
Demonstrate the software application and accompanying documentation are
tools that are functional and usable by likely users, such as traffic
