COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF OCTOBER 20,1995 PSA#1456DOD SPACE ARCHITECT ORGANIZATION CALL FOR TECHNICAL INTERCHANGE MEETING
The purpose of these sessions is to discuss communication/information
services, technologies, and concepts of operation that are potentially
applicable 10 to 20 years in the future. This meeting will be held in
conjunction with the AFCEA sponsored MILCOM `95 in San Diego, CA, 5-8
November 1995. Members of the space architect organization's milsatcom
architecture development team will use this meeting for information
gathering, assessing tradeoffs between space based and terrestrial
capabilities and as an aid in expanding the realm of architectural
possibilities. The DoD Space Architect, established on 29 September
1995, is responsible for developing space architectures across the
range of DoD space mission areas, and achieving efficiencies in
acquisition and future operations through program integration. The
architectural process will integrate future requirements and a broad
spectrum of future capabilities (both military and commercial) into
candidate architectures; conduct independent analysis to evaluate the
ability of each architecture to meet requirements; and make
recommendations to the defense acquisition executive. The organization
will integrate future concepts and technologies into the potential
architectures in such a manner as to make that architecture
comprehensive as possible. The organization's immediate task is to
further develop a future military satellite communications architecture
which encompasses core DoD capabilities, civil and commercial
augmentation; and global broadcast. Interested organizations should
contact CAPT Matt Rogers, USN, at (703) 416-8485 or (703) 416-8480, by
31 October 1995. Each scheduled firm will be scheduled for a 1 hour
presentation with the architect staff. Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0449 19951019\SP-0002.MSC)
