PERFORM LABOR TO REMOVE EXISTING BURNHAM MODEL FDO-14 OIL FIRED HOT
WATER BOILERS WITH FOUR CONTRACTOR FURNISHED BOILERS. EACH NEW BOILER
SHALL BE CAPABLE OF PRODUCING 13 GPM CONTINUOUS DOMESTIC HOT WATER WITH
A 100 DEGREE TEMPERATURE RISE FROM 40 DEGREE INPUT WATER WITH 200
DEGREE OR LESS BOILER TEMPERATURE (TWO TANKLESS HEATERS MAY BE USED),
HAVE A 8'' FLUE CONNECTION FROM THE BACK OF BOILER. BOILER BTU OUTPUT
SHALL BE 643 MBH GROSS OUTPUT AND PRESSURIZED FOR FORCED DRAFT,
EQUIPPED WITH FLAME RETENTION BURNERS USING 5.5 GPH OF LIGHT OIL.
BOILER SHALL ACCEPT A 1'' WATER SUPPLY LINE, REDUCING OF WATER SUPPLY
LINE WILL NOT BE PERMITTED. ONE KNOWN MANUFACTURER MODEL MEETING THE
GOVERNMENT'S NEEDS IS WEIL MCLAIN MODEL BL678 WITH TWO TANKLESS WATER
HEATER SECTIONS, BECKETT BURNER AND CONTROLS. CONTRACTOR IS RESPONSIBLE
FOR THE PURCHASE AND SHIPMENT OF THE BOILERS TO USCG FAMILY HOUSING AT
600 ADAMS AVENUE, CORDOVA, ALASKA FOR TEMPORARY STORAGE WITHIN
FORTY-FIVE DAYS AFTER APPROVAL OF SUBMITTAL. ACTUAL WORK REQUIRED TO
INSTALL THE BOILERS WILL NOT BE PERFORMED UNTIL SPRING 1996. HOWEVER,
IN THE EVENT OF BOILER FAILURE DURING THE WINTER MONTHS, THE CONTRACTOR
SHALL BE ON-SITE WITHIN FORTY-EIGHT HOURS TO COMMENCE THE INSTALLATION
OF THE FAILED BOILER(S). ESTIMATED COST RANGE IS BETWEEN $25,000 AND
$100,000. THE TIME FOR COMPLETION OF THE WORK IS 150 CALENDAR DAYS
AFTER RECEIPT OF AWARD. ALL RESPONSIBLE SOURCES MAY SUBMIT A BID WHICH
SHALL BE CONSIDERED BY THE U.S. COAST GUARD. REQUESTS FOR BID
DOCUMENTS MUST BE SUBMITTED AND RECEIVED BY THIS OFFICE NO LATER THAN
7 NOVEMBER 1995. FOR MINORITY, WOMEN-OWNED AND DISADVANTAGED BUSINESS
ENTERPRISES: THE DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION (DOT), OFFICE OF SMALL
AND DISADVANTAGED BUSINESS UTILIZATION (OSDBU), HAS A PROGRAM TO ASSIST
MINORITY WOMEN-OWNED AND DISADVANTAGED BUSINESS ENTERPRISES TO ACQUIRE
SHORT TERM WORKING CAPITAL AND BONDING ASSISTANCE FOR TRANSPORTATION
RELATED CONTRACTS. THIS IS APPLICABLE TO ANY ELIGIBLE PRIME OR

MILLION PER CONTRACT. THE DOT PROVIDES AN 80% GUARANTEE OF THE BID BOND
AMOUNT TO A SURETY AGAINST LOSSES. LOANS ARE AVAILABLE UNDER THE DOT
SHORT TERM LENDING PROGRAM (STLP) AT PRIME INTEREST RATES TO PROVIDE
ACCOUNT RECEIVABLE FINANCING. THE MAXIMUM LINE OF CREDIT IS $500,000.
